krka falls

Krka National Park has been one of Croatia's protected park lands since 1985. It was formed to protect the Krka River and is intended primarily for scientific, cultural, educational, recreational, and tourism activities. It has the distinction of having the second highest concentration of lavender per km squared in Europe.

The Falls, known as Skradkinski buk, is one of the most attractive parts of the park. It is a massive, clear, natural pool with high waterfalls at one end and cascades at the other. It is the lowest of the three sets of waterfalls formed along the Krka river. In an area 400 m in length and 100 m in width there are 17 waterfalls. Due to the wealth and variety of geomorphological forms, vegetation, and the various effects caused by the play of light on the whirlpools, Skradinski buk is considered to be one of the most beautiful calcium carbonate waterfalls in Europe.

bibich winery

Bibic Winery is a signature destination for lovers of fine wine and food in Croatia. The vineyards are located in the rolling hills above historic Skradin and Krka National Park in the bucolic village of Plastovo. Among the most celebrated in the country, most of Bibic's limited production is sold only in very select shops and served in the finest restaurants- the rest is exported to US and Europe. In addition to their award-winning whites and reds, Bibic also produces exceptional brandies.

Winemaker Alen Bibic and his wife Vesna deliver a world class tasting and wine pairings that have been compared to the best Michelin star experiences around the world! Each dish is visually stunning and divinely delectable - individually prepared and served with a wine chosen personally by Alen.

THE EXCURSION and logistics

Trekr recommends arriving the Friday before we set sail on Saturday. This allows flexibility in the case of unexpected flight delays as well as an opportunity to socialize with fellow yacht mates before getting underway. Accordingly, we give you the opportunity to participate in a pre-sail experience that includes accommodations for Friday night and a full day of adventure on Saturday. Upon arrival in Split, we will assist you in getting to your accommodations. Then the group will gather for an informal dinner and drinks.

On Saturday morning, we will meet at a designated spot at 8:00am to board a bus to drop off luggage at the marina. Then we will get underway for the day's adventure. You should be dressed to be in the water if you choose to enjoy the Falls and also pack a dry change of clothes for the wine tasting. This will be a full day and we will return to the marina in time for a welcome briefing, a champagne toast and to board the yachts.

Croatia - Dubrovnik rooftops.jpg

The city

One of the few remaining walled cities in the world, Dubrovnik's beauty is out of this world. After the breakup of Yugoslavia, it was significantly damaged during a seven month siege. Today, the damage is barely visible thanks to a significant restoration effort throughout the 1990's and 2000's. If the rooftops and streets look familiar, it may be because you've seen them in the popular HBO series 'Game of Thrones'. Dubrovnik sits at a strategic location on the sea and has a long history of coming under the control of some of history's most powerful empires. Today, it is a popular tourist destination, offering stunning views from its city walls, world class shopping and top notch dining.

the excursion

Given the distance of Dubrovnik from mainland Split, it is impossible to reach during the one week sailing trip. Accordingly, Trekr is arranging a luxury coach to make the three hour drive to Dubrovnik, which briefly takes us into and out of Bosnia. Once in Dubrovnik, Trekr will arrange accommodations for two nights in the beautiful city. We will also provide a host of options to fill your day with tours or trips to the beach. You can also choose just to relax by shopping or enjoying the sidewalk cafes and restaurants.
